49 licensed buildings in the five counties carry a dementia designation on Nebraska's DHHS rosters: 44 assisted-living facilities (42 with an Alzheimer's unit, 34 with a memory care endorsement) and 5 nursing homes with an Alzheimer's or special care unit.

What is the difference between an Alzheimer's unit and a memory care endorsement?
An Alzheimer's unit on the roster means the facility represents itself as specializing in dementia care and must meet the dementia-unit rule in 175 NAC 4-006.11E; the memory care endorsement is an additional credential under Neb. Rev. Stat. 71-472 that a facility earns by proving enhanced staffing, training, programming and security.
Licensed bed counts are for the whole building, since the roster does not separate dementia beds. See Nebraska's memory care rules. Some buildings are memory-care-only residences with ten or fewer beds; others have a wing inside a larger community.
